In photography, I often search for an image, which, like a relic, speaks to an historical moment, one that evokes nostalgia for an optimistic time, perhaps a time and an optimism which has since departed. Like much of northern Vermont, this region of Quebec has the frozen quality seen in this once vibrant shop and store, now well-weathered by neglect and a long-term economic downturn.
